Introduction

Boutique hotels are a staple of the Marais district's charm โ€” but which ones are AI search engines recommending most often? We analysed ChatGPT 4o, Google Gemini, Perplexity, and Meta Llama 3.3 to see which 4-star boutique hotels stand out, which ones lag behind, and what patterns emerge from AI-generated travel advice.

Methodology

We ran multiple queries like "best 4-star boutique hotel in the Marais" across four major AI models, adjusting for different traveller profiles: business trips, romantic weekends, and cultural getaways. For each property, we tracked: Appearance % (share of queries in which the hotel appeared) and Average Rank (average ranking position among mentions).

Chart showing AI boutique hotel recommendations in the Marais, Paris, with appearance percentage and average rank

Key Findings

  • Sinner Paris leads in ranking quality, consistently securing top positions despite a moderate appearance rate (~30%).
  • Le Pavillon des Reines has a strong average rank but relatively low presence, indicating high quality when it appears.
  • Hotel du Petit Moulin has the highest appearance rate (~62%) but a weaker average rank, suggesting mixed AI perception.

Conclusion

In the Marais, AI recommendations favour a mix of high-profile boutique hotels and hidden gems. However, a high appearance rate doesnโ€™t always translate into a top ranking. For boutique hoteliers, improving both visibility and perceived quality in AI search results is essential to stand out.
